About
Wendy Smith
I am clinical social worker who loves helping others transform through mindfulness and self-acceptance. I have been studying mindfulness and embodiment practices for over two decades. As a social worker, I am committed to social justice and empowering clients using a strengths-based approach. I recently completed The Internal Family Systems Level 1 Training and am enamored with it, amazed at the profound healing that can take place with this technique.

Most people find that I am an understanding and non-judgmental listener. My hope is that clients leave feeling seen and understood, hopefully with a new perspective, as well as with something practical they can try on their own between sessions.
Outside of work, I enjoy music, dance, gardening, and learning about comparative religion and spirituality . I am increasingly interested in understanding intergenerational trauma and ancestral healing.

Experience
Wendy has been a psychotherapist at Austin Mindfulness Center, a psychiatric social worker in the emergency department, and a medical social worker in perinatal women's health. In addition to mindfulness-based treatment for depression and anxiety, they have extensive experience providing grief counseling. Wendy also provides trauma-informed care for survivors of domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and childhood emotional neglect.
